In close collaboration with the OMEGA project, the OMERO platform has been operational at two academic institutions:
Starting from July 2010, OMERO is being actively employed at the Istituto Cantonale di Microbiologia (ICM) in Bellinzona Switzerland, to manage image data and metadata produced as part of a project aimed at dissecting the three-dimensional organization and eco-physiology of bacterial aggregates from Lake Cadagno, a meromictic lake found in the Swiss Alps. This project is carried out by Nicholas Vecchietti, Mauro Tonolla and Caterina Strambio De Castillia in close collaboration with the Centro di Biologia Alpina in Piora, Switzterland.
OMERO has been installed and is being tested for use by the Hunter laboratory at the Emory Vaccine Center in connection with a project aimed at dissecting the molecular aspects of retroviral assembly and release from infected primate cells. In addition, this installation of OMERO is being used as the main image data repository for the OMEGA development project.
